The Cobblestone Way - Eigg

If you have ever hiked to the top of the Sgurr of Eigg, you may have gone part of the way on several sections of what looks like a cobblestone path. The 'path' is made up of the eroded tops of basalt pillars. They make for easy walking; their rough surface giving good traction.

In the photo you can see a section of the path. In the middle distance is Loch nam Ban Mora (aka The Amazon's Loch), with its crannog/fort, and in the far distance clouds are sweeping over the Cuillins of Rum. The climb up the Sgurr is one of the most scenic hikes in the Hebrides.
